Kate Hoffmann, DVM
Dr. Kate was raised in the Sandhills of Nebraska, in the small town of Hyannis. Growing up she worked a lot with her father, a large animal veterinarian. She graduated from the University of Nebraska - Kearney with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. Dr. Kate furthered her education by moving to Ames, IA to complete veterinary school at Iowa State University, class of 2010. Dr. Kate and her husband, Dr. Pat, have a daughter, Annette, a son, Gabriel, and two cats, Marta and Heidi. Spending time with family, working outdoors, and traveling are things that Dr. Kate enjoys outside of work. Dr. Kate's favorite part of AAHC is helping to enrich the human-animal bond, for both clients and patients. She particularly enjoys internal medicine and surgery.
Pat Hoffmann, DVM
Dr. Pat Hoffmann grew up in Walnut, IA involved in 4-H and sports. He spent time working with his father, a mixed animal veterinarian. Dr. Pat attained degrees in Animal Science (2005) and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (2010) from Iowa State University. He practiced mixed animal medicine for two years before committing exclusively to swine medicine. He serves as a technical service veterinarian in the swine department of Elanco Animal Health. Dr. Pat is married to Dr. Kate and they have one daughter, Annette, a son, Gabriel, two cats, and four cows. As a food animal veterinarian, Dr. Pat is professionally motivated by figuring out how to feed a growing global population with less resources. His hobbies include history, traveling, fishing, cooking, and following the Iowa State Cyclones.
Logan grew up on a hobby farm in Sidney, Iowa, where her love for animals began. Her family raised horses, 4-H calves, chickens, and various other critters here and there. She went to Iowa State University, and graduated with an Animal Science degree in 2017. Logan is a veterinary technician at the clinic, where she gets to assist Dr. Hoffmann, providing care to your furry friends! Her favorite thing about her job is getting to combine her love for science, educating clients about quality care for their pet, and of course spending time with the animals. She currently lives in Griswold, with her husband Josh, and her Basset Hound - Lacey Mae.
Summer grew up in Grant, IA and is a Veterinary Technician here at the clinic. She has always had a passion for animals since she was a kid thanks to her mom who has been a technician for nearly 37 years - she would always bring home bottle babies, or sick and injured pets that would need a little TLC and that’s where her love of helpings animals became something she wanted to make a career out of. Summer has been in the field as a Veterinary Technician since 2018. Summer, her boyfriend Bailey, and their daughter Scarlett currently reside in Bayard, IA along with their dog Poppy. They are also expecting another child in February. Summer’s favorite part about working at AAHC is being able to provide such a high standard of care for clients and their pets!
Ashley grew up in Anita, IA and currently resides in Atlantic. She graduated from Kaplan University with an associate’s degree in Business Administration. Ashley, her husband, Michael, and their daughter Chloe have two dogs, Marley and Pip. In their free time they enjoy spending time with family, concerts, traveling, and being outdoors. Ashley’s favorite part about her job at AAHC is being a part of the bond between people and their pets.
Madeline is an Atlantic, IA native and serves as the clinic’s administrative assistant. She can be found doing the daily bookkeeping, marketing, and more often than not, you can find her in the treatment room snuggling your pets! She graduated from Grand View University in 2021 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting & Finance. In May of 2023, Madeline married Graydon Schmidt and together they have two dogs. Dallas, a Siberian Husky and Sully, a Dalmatian. In their free time, Madeline & Graydon enjoy spending time with family, being outdoors and golfing. Madeline’s favorite part about working at AAHC is that her position blends her two favorite things - numbers and animals.
Kennel Care Staff
Our Kennel Care Staff adds that extra TLC for patients that are boarding or hospitalized. You may also see these bright faces in the exam room assisting with appointments. We are so thankful for everything that they do for us and for your pets!
Amy has been at AAHC for three years. Her favorite part of her job is seeing all of your pets' different personalities and giving all of the nose boops! In Amy's free time, she enjoys fishing, gardening and jeeping with her husband, Sean and her son, Jeremiah. Amy has three cats of her own, two dogs and multiple aquariums.
Riley has been at AAHC since the Fall of 2021. Her favorite part of her job is being around a wide variety of animals and their different personalities. Riley is currently a senior at Atlantic High School and plans to study Speech Pathology after graduating. Outside of school, Riley enjoys softball and spending time with her family and her own pets.
Jersey started working with AAHC in July of 2023. Her favorite part of working as a kennel attendant is seeing all of the pets happy and healthy and getting them out of their kennels to walk them! Jersey is currently a sophomore at Atlantic High School and enjoys dancing at Villa Dance Company.
Johnny aka "Johnny Cat"
Johnny came to us in the summer of 2015 as a kitten. He was found wondering in the back barn on a daily basis and after a week of sticking around he made himself comfortable inside the clinic and now spends his nights patrolling the property. In his free time he likes to sleep in his favorite bed on top of the refrigerator so he is able watch the FedEx and pet food delivery men coming in and out. Johnny's favorite part about living at AAHC is pacing back and forth in front of boarding dogs and of course the food & love.
